Title: Specialist, Instructional Design Dept/Location: Learning Hub (200131) / VA Office Reports To: Director, Learning Management Solutions Supervises: Yes Classification: Exempt Summary: Works as an integral part of a collaborative development team and is responsible for the assessment, design, and development of curriculum to be delivered via instructor-led classroom sessions, eLearning course management system, webinars, and client-specific blended delivery methods. Also responsible for education of NADA instructors and staff on effective instructional delivery methodologies and technologies for adult learners to maximize and measure educational outcomes. Performs a wide variety of professional tasks, which demand a high level of creativity and imagination, as well as a thorough knowledge of the applicable customer needs and expectations. Essential Functions: • Analyze input of Subject Matter Experts to develop and modify instructional material for NADA University core and custom training programs; including participant guides, facilitator guides, presentation materials, participate interactions, and learning evaluations. • Assist the Business Development Team in their client needs assessments; including analysis of content, target audience, job tasks, and learner environment to identify appropriate instructional strategies, define learning objectives, and evaluate delivery and learning. • Develop training materials for both instructor-led and web-based learning programs; convert existing instructor-led material to online or blended delivery format. • Assist in setting and implementing policy regarding course development procedures, course material selection, legal and industry guideline compliance, and operational procedures. • Researches and organizes information and writes instructional materials (facilitator guides, participant guides, video scripts, story boards, navigational text, presentation materials, interactive exercises, tests, etc.) that transform complex, unorganized information into professionally written, clear, interactive effective CBT or multimedia instruction. • Structures course content and develops course outline and graphics, determines user pathways and feedback to create instructional and navigational template, and selects presentation media based on an awareness of the strengths of the many separate media that comprise multimedia. • Conducts needs/audience analysis, develops training objectives and lesson plans, and collaborates on instructional treatment to develop high-quality custom course work to meet individual customer needs. • Manages project resources (people and material) to ensure deliverables are completed in scope and on schedule. • Confers with customer representatives in order to give proper consideration to customer requirements and policies.
