The Director of Professional Development provides strategic direction, program planning and staff management for the association's professional development programs, including face to face conferences and seminars, teleseminars, web seminars and e-learning. He/she develops new delivery platforms for these and other initiatives. The ideal candidate is an innovative problem-solver with experience in professional development program design.
Specific duties: --Participates with senior staff leadership and executive board members on development of a master curriculum for the association. --Develops IABC's professional development plan. --Works with staff and volunteers on the planning and implementatioin of distance learning options such as web seminars and teleseminars. --Develops new platforms for professional development to provide additional access to IABC's programs --Develops and monitors the budget for all professional development programs --Hires, if needed, trains and evaluates all department staff

--Minimum four-year college degree plus a minimum of five years experience --Experience in designing educational programming --Experience in meeting planning --Experience with e-learning and distance learning platforms --Abililty to work collaboratively with staff, peers, volunteers and business partners --Experience in staff and volunteer management --Budgeting and budget management --Excellent oral and written communication skills --Negotiation skills --Understanding of professional development needs for communicators, preferred
